Andrew D'Arrigo, second generation Italian American immortalized as the 3-year old icon for Andy Boy™ brand produce, knows a great deal about fruits and vegetables. He comes by it honestly. His father Stephen and uncle Andrew D'Arrigo immigrated to the States from Italy early in the 20th Century. With them they brought Italian favorites like Broccoli Rabe [rappini], cactus pear, and fennel. The D'Arrigo's are credited with introducing broccoli to America in 1924. The rest is produce history.
