At their annual convention in Baltimore last month, the POINTS OF LIGHT FOUNDATION announced the names of their 2003 Communication Excellence Award winners. Design talent donated by THE MARKETING DEPARTMENT contributed to the selection as the top honoree in the Newsletter category. With support from First National Bank, The Monterey County HERALD, The Californian, and Coast Weekly, the award-winning newsletter was distributed to 72,000 households throughout Monterey County. “We are so proud of your contributions to your community…” reported Mary Foley, chair of the Volunteer Center National Network. The Volunteer Center of Monterey County promotes volunteerism for not-for-profit agencies throughout Monterey County. The mission of The Volunteer Center of Monterey County is to promote volunteerism by engaging more people, more effectively, to build a better community. This mission is reflected in their role as the community leader in connecting people through volunteer services and mobilizing resources to help solve community problems.
