Parent Update 9/25/2008

Dear Fourth Grade Families,

A big "Thank you!" to the wonderful chaperones who helped to make our field trip to the Monterey State Historic Parks for the Native American program possible. Thank you to Barbara Okamura, Merilee Kolpacyzk, Kathleen Hill, Ming-Chiann Chou, Debra Istenes, Sonia Perez and Claudia Paul for safely driving the students and assisting in many ways during the trip. We all had an enjoyable experience and learned a lot of new information about the native people and the history of Monterey. The students should have brought home a few items they made yesterday. Have them teach to the "Stave Game" with the beautiful sticks they decorated. They all were great participants throughout the day.

I hope you all received an email notice about the re-enrollment form for your plans for your child next year. Please take the time to fill this out and return it by tomorrow. It is a crucial piece of information to help ISM with our school site for the upcoming school year.

The Read-a-Thon ends tomorrow, Sept. 26th. Please have your child bring in their minutes and donations if they participated in the Read-a-Thon. Thanks for helping our school with needed literature!

Our class will have a spelling test and a math assessment for Unit 2 tomorrow. Your child should be bringing home a study guide I gave them today. Please take a few minutes tonight to go over the math skills and spelling words with them.

Fall Break begins October 4th and goes through the 19th. I hope you all are planning a little time to enjoy this time of year together somehow.

Tomorrow is Free Dress.

Best wishes,

Mary Welsh
