Parent Update 9/29/2008

Dear 4th grade Families,

I hope everyone enjoyed a nice weekend together. Here are just a few items for the week:

Thank you for getting all of the pre-enrollment forms in last week. Our class has turned all of them in and the office is happy.

The unit 2 Math test should be coming home today in your child's homework folder. Please look at it, sign it and have your child bring it back to school. The students began correcting some mistakes on the test in class. Check with your child to see if he/she still needs to make corrections.

Please read the Family Letter 2.10 for Unit 3 in the Study Links math book tonight and save the answer sheet for yourself if you need it for checking your child's work.

The 1st grade will be selling fruit bars on Friday. Students who want to purchase them need to bring in $1.00 on Wednesday or Thursday to prepay for the popsicles. (This is a fundraiser for the 1st Grade science camp.)

Denim Day is Friday. Ms. Sally Burns, grade 5 teacher, is collecting $5.00 for students to wear jeans on Friday to raise money for breast cancer research. If you would like your child to participate, please send in the form sent home last week (or a note if the form has been
misplaced) with $5 by Thursday.

For all of you who ordered books through the Scholastic book order, our first Scholastic order is on its way. You should have received a second group of book club catalog pages. If you are interested in purchasing any of the great books and/or computer programs available, please send in any book club orders by Friday. We are trying to gain as many points as possible to increase the size of our class library.

Remember to check PowerSchool for your child's scores. I am mostly caught up on grade postings right now. There will be several added to writing by the end of the week. If you have any concerns please contact me.

As you are aware, this is our last week before the October break. School will resume on Monday, October 20th. Wishing you a relaxing and memorable time together.

Best wishes,
Mary Welsh
