Thing 1 and Thing 2

Hello Parents,

Just two things for you:

Tomorrow is Free Dress Friday.

The mission churches your children have been working on in art are finished. They all look great. They are drying in the classroom. Due to their fragile nature, we will not be sending them home to be put on the mission and come back. The students will place them on their mission board when they bring it on Monday. I measured the churches and they are all a little different sizes. Most are about 4" x 4" but some are 4"x 5". There are a few that are 5" x 5". If you need exact measurements, your child should measure their church tomorrow in class and bring the measurement home.

Thanks for all your support at home with this project. I know exactly what you are going through as my son has his due tomorrow - not quite complete yet!. I hope your child is having fun with it.

Best wishes,
Mary Welsh

Parent Update 11/16/2008

I hope you had an enjoyable weekend with this incredible weather we are having.

Here are just a few things for this week:

Wednesday, Nov. 19th will be an early dismissal day due to a staff development meeting. The students will be out at 11:30. There is after school care available if needed. Please contact Lisa Wichel-Loomis if interested.

The following week, there are only Monday and Tuesday as school days. The Thanksgiving holiday begins on Wednesday the 26th through the 28th.

All but one of the students went home with a 12-inch pizza box this week for the mission building project last Friday. The due date for our class is next Monday, November 24.
Presentations will also begin on that day. I hope the students are having fun with the project and learning a few more details about the missions. Let me know if you are running into great difficulties.

We will have a regular spelling week this week.

In math, we will continue with decimals. We will be estimating decimals for addition and subtraction and working with decimals and money. You can assist their learning by doing any of the "Do-Anytime Activities" on page 69 of their Study Links. Find decimals in the store and compare prices or you can look for decimals in sports statistics among other activities.

Homework this week:

Math: Monday: Study Links 4.4, Tuesday 4.5, Wed. 4.6, Thursday 4.7 Social Studies: work on mission project.
Reading: Read 20 minutes and record in planner
Spelling: sort and write words or other activity to spend time with the spelling words

Best wishes,
Mary Welsh
