Got Popsicles?

Dear Parents,

The students all made it through the 6X, 3 minute timed test of "Multiplication Road" last week.

The deal was that we would all have popsicles to celebrate this accomplishment. Is there anyone out there that would like to provide the popsicles this time? It would be a help to me and my family's budget. (Let me know so we don't end up with too many... a nice problem to have however.) We are planning an ice cream party when all complete their 12 times problems in less than 3 minutes. There are just 7 kids left to pass that. If anyone wants to sponsor the ice cream party, please let me know.

Thank you,

Mary

USGS Field trip tomorrow is on

Hello everyone,

The field trip tomorrow to the USGS Open House will take place. Thank you to drivers Glenn Harrell, Claudia Paul, Leann Ruffin, Theresa Curatalo, Barbara Okamura and Debra Istenes for making it happen.

We will leave school as soon as possible in the morning. Please try to get your child to school on time so we don't leave anyone behind. Drivers, please meet at the classroom to pick up the students in your car. It is approximately a 1.5 hour drive each way. Students are not allowed to have electronics of any kind.

Students will need to wear their uniforms, bring a lunch and water/drink (zero waste is best), a hat to wear is o.k. I am not sure of the weather in Menlo Park tomorrow but I expect it to be warmer than Seaside.

There will be many learning activities the students will do. Among them are: Gold panning, Make your own earthquake, Microfossils, Sea Otter Research, Plate Tectonics Puzzle, Dress like a Marine Geologist and many more. I think it will be a fun, exploratory day.

Best wishes and thanks again to the drivers,

Mary Welsh

Friday's Field Trip (5/15/2009)

Dear Parents,

We just had a cancellation from a driver for the trip on Friday and we do not have enough seats to transport everyone to USGS in Menlo Park. We are 3 seats short. It would be tough for me to drive for this one as we need to drop the students off in one location and move the cars to park in the parking areas. If you can help, please let me know asap.

Thank you,
Mary

Spanish Project (Due 5/20/2009)

Hello Parents,

The Spanish project for the 4th graders is due on Wed., May 20th. Both Spanish classes have similar projects. Mrs. Leavitt, Cameron's mom received the following information from Mrs. Wright that may help everyone have a better idea of what is expected. It is a fairly simple project unless, of course, it is left to the last minute.

Here is what Mrs. Wright said:

"The project is a family tree and they need family pictures. They will present it on a Cardboard. Below the picture the students have to write: My grandmother's name is Carmen. (in spanish) They have the family vocabulary in their notebooks and workbook. The students practice the vocabulary every day. It is very simple. I hope I answered your question.

The students have a sheet where it shows the family tree as an example."

I Hope this helps. Feel free to contact the teachers directly for more information.

Best of luck,
Mary
